New Events to Add Extra Colour to Tartan Day Celebrations!
Issued: 16 Febuary 2010
Three exciting new events have just been added to the Tartan Day Angus 2010 calendar – a film festival, a fashion show and a talent competition.
The JM Barrie Film Day will be held at the WebsterTheatre in Arbroath on Wednesday, April 7. Perfect for a fun family activity during the Easter holidays, the Film Day will include a matinee showing of a much-loved film inspired by JM Barrie, the creator of Peter Pan, who was born in the Angus town of Kirriemuir.
On Thursday, April 8, in the impressive setting of Kinnettles House, The Tartan Day Fashion Show will reveal Forfar's finest fashions. Appearing on the catwalk will be the latest in lifestyle attire from Gammies Country Clothing, along with a stunning selection of evening dresses and wedding outfits from Flair Boutique, while members of the audience are being asked to add a touch of tartan to their outfits. The fashion show is being held in aid of Maggie's Centre, Dundee, with tickets costing £25, which includes a glass of wine, canapés and shortbread.
And, on Saturday, April 10, at The Coast Nightclub in Arbroath, there will be the first round of a very special competition inspired by the hit tv show 'Britain's Got Talent': The A Factor – Angus Has Talent. The A Factor is open to everyone in Angus, individuals and groups, and, to ensure that local youngsters get their fair share of the spotlight, all secondary schools in Angus have been invited to nominate pupils to represent their school.
"Whatever your talent is – whether it's singing, dancing, telling jokes or juggling while on a unicycle – this is your chance to shine," said Councillor David Fairweather, who is supporting The A Factor organisers along with fellow Councillor Peter Nield. "We are looking for the stars of Angus – so don't be shy!"
The winners of the heats will go through to the semi-finals on May 15, with the Grand Final being held at Arbroath's WebsterTheatre on Friday, June 4.
Full details of all events will be available at www.tartandayscotland.com by the beginning of March.
