Issued: 25 March 2011
Tartan Day Angus 2011 will launch at the start of the school Easter break from April 1 to 10 with a calendar of nearly 40 events for all the family.
Celebrated across Angus, this year's action-packed Tartan Day programme promises to keep your children entertained for the first week of the school holidays with films, picnics, parades, haggis hunts, skate nights and a torch lit procession. See www.tartandayscotland.com for a full programme of events or pick up a programme at your nearest leisure centre, access office, library or tourist attraction.
"The Tartan Day programme is packed full of family events." said the Provost of Angus, Ruth Leslie Melville. "It's important that all ages are included in the celebrations to continue to recognise the significance of the signing of the Declaration of Arbroath and to remember the impact that Scots have made on other countries around the world. With this year's increased focus on schools, the area's youth are set to significantly participate in the 2011 Tartan Day activities."
A highlight of the 2011 Tartan Day celebrations will be a film showing at Arbroath's Webster Theatre's cinema where, on Tuesday, April 5, Walt Disney's family classic Pete's Dragon will be screened. Film fans of all ages will be welcomed at the doors by Pete the Dragon and his friend. If you arrive at 2pm, there will be time to take a photograph with the main character so don't forget your cameras. Tickets to Pete's Dragon cost £5.50 for adults, £3 for children and are available from the Webster Theatre Box Office (01241 435800).
