Every year, Tartan Day is celebrated in many countries around 6 April commemorating the signing of the Declaration of Arbroath. In Scotland, Angus leads the way in promoting Tartan Day to encourage visitors from abroad and at home to visit the area.
The week of events is devoted to highlight the nation's heritage, history, traditions and culture – past and present. It is a time to be proud of our past and to remind others of the contribution Scots have made to the rest of the world.
Tartan Day is remembered through a diverse range of events featuring music, films, food, and dance all with a tartan theme.Last year, the week of special events included a torchlight procession, a Scottish evening, ceilidhs, a 10k run and competitions and it was very much enjoyed by all.
