Scotland’s Tartan Day - The American Connection
It is said that the American Declaration of Independence was inspired by the Declaration of Arbroath and this may be one of the reasons why there are such strong links between the USA and Scotland. However, one of the other reasons is the vast numbers of Scots who emigrated to America and their descendants' proud desire to remember their Scottish heritage – and be recognised as Scots Americans.
And it was the Scots Americans' contributions to life in America which led to the American Senate recognising Tartan Day as a public holiday in the United States – Click here click here to read the Resolution of the House of Representatives.
