Scottish Opera's 'A Little Bit of Northern Light' |
Saturday 31 March 10am, 11.30am. 1pm, 2.30pm |
Arbroath Library |
A musical story for 4 to 8 year olds. Set in the not too distant future – when our young audience will be grown ups, A Little Bit of Northern Light tells an atmospheric tale of Scotland's past, present and future. The time has come when the old traditions of the lighthouse keepers are long gone. Once, they kept watch over our coasts, ensuring their beams of light reached far out to sea to keep ships safe from the deadly rocks below. Now we control our lives from our computer screens, deep in the heart of our modern cities. But out on the farthest edges of Scotland's coastline, one lonely little lighthouse stands firm against the tide, and against the storms of the North Atlantic. Told from the perspective of the seas that surround us and the ships that sail in them, A Little Bit of Northern Light is brought to life by a storyteller, a series of colourful illustrations, two instrumentalists and a singer. |
