What’s On - Scotland’s Tartan Day Events
Tartan Day is commemorated all over the world but where better to celebrate such a momentous occasion than in Scotland? Come and join in the Tartan Day Scotland celebrations!
The celebrations marking Tartan Day 2012 begin on Saturday 31 March to
Sunday 8 April, when a host of special events throughout the country marked the start of over a week of festivities.
Nine days of gala dinners, thought-provoking debates, traditional and not-so-traditional music, and world class sporting events highlight the significance of Tartan Day, and the immense contribution Scotland has made to the world. In particular, it celebrates April 6 1320, when the Declaration of Arbroath was signed within the hallowed walls of the town's magnificent red sandstone abbey.
At the beginning of April each year a week-long programme of events commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Arbroath on the 6th April 1320 at Arbroath Abbey.
